Orbex is seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to join its AIT team, bringing expertise in the design, development, integration and validation of electrical wiring and interconnect systems for launch vehicles. In this role, you will support Assembly, Integration and Testing activities for harness design and integration while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations for a safe and reliable system. Responsibilities include creating detailed wiring designs with 2D schematics and 3D routing, ensuring compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and ECSS-Q-ST standards for high-quality harnessing and avionics integration, defining and selecting connectors, cables, shields and grounding protections, supporting overall system architecture with harnessing topologies and electrical distribution strategies, generating BOMs, wiring diagrams, pin-out diagrams and assembly drawings, coordinating with other departments to ensure proper fit and interfaces for onboard devices, performing harness validation and integrity checks, and contributing to design reviews and FMEA hazard analysis. Candidates should have an educational background in Electrical Engineering, Avionics, Aerospace or a related field, with proven experience in harness routing, harness integration, SolidWorks Electrical, rigorous testing and validation, as well as understanding EMC/EMI requirements and aerospace standards such as ECSS-ST-Q and RCC319. Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles and qualifications in IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards are highly desirable, along with hands-on experience in electrical and avionics testing and integration.
