The AMO Theory and Simulation Group Lead at Nu Quantum will play a crucial leadership role in directing a highly skilled team focused on designing ion-traps and simulating the performance of quantum networking protocols. Based in Cambridge, this full-time permanent role offers visa sponsorship and reports to the Head of Engineering and Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting technical teams in identifying and solving meaningful scientific challenges, fostering robust workflows, and aligning individual career growth with company needs. Responsibilities include managing the AMO Theory and Simulation Group, overseeing technical decisions, improving processes, coordinating with the Project Management Office and Finance teams, and contributing to technical documentation. The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in AMO physics or related fields, possess hands-on simulation experience with tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, Qutip, Mathematica, or MATLAB, and have deep technical knowledge spanning quantum optics, qubit control, and optical systems. Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to mentor cross-functional teams are essential. Experience in Quantum Error Correction or ion-trap design, and industry exposure are desirable.
