West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 IT Specialist with expertise in pathology systems, specifically ICE (Integrated Clinical Environment) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), to provide system support, optimisation, and integration across clinical and laboratory teams. The postholder will play a critical role in maintaining pathology informatics, including LIMS, instrument interfaces, middleware, and EPR integrations, ensuring compliance with UKAS and MHRA standards while driving improvements in efficiency and workflow. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and administering pathology systems, supporting demand management, implementing enhancements and upgrades, training staff on ICE and LIMS usage, delivering technical support, generating operational reports, and fostering collaboration between IT, pathology, and clinical teams. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of pathology workflows, data standards, and system administration, along with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
