Ferguson Marine, a company with over 120 years of maritime engineering excellence, is seeking a skilled Burner to join their operations at the Port Glasgow facility. The role is centred around the precise and efficient operation of the ESAB profile burning machine, ensuring high-quality output and strict adherence to health and safety regulations. As a Burner, you will be responsible for the complete setup, adjustment, and operation of the ESAB equipment to meet departmental productivity goals, technical specifications, and quality benchmarks. You’ll be expected to conduct regular pre-use operational checks and calibration tasks, maintain optimal machine functionality through routine maintenance, and execute complex metal cutting tasks across various material types and thicknesses. The job demands high attention to detail in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical data, and customer specifications to produce outputs that meet strict industry standards. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, contributing to safety-focused workplace culture, maintaining accurate operational records, and working collaboratively or independently depending on the project demands. Candidates should possess a recognised trade qualification in a relevant discipline and demonstrate prior experience in manual gas cutting (hand burning), material handling using heavy-duty equipment, and the use of trade-specific hand tools. This is a full-time, on-site position with a competitive hourly rate of £17.07, and offers benefits such as a strong pension scheme, Perk Box rewards, and opportunities for career development. Ferguson Marine promotes a diverse and inclusive workplace and is committed to supporting candidates who may require reasonable adjustments due to health conditions or disabilities. Importantly, this role is open to candidates requiring UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, with relocation assistance available to support your move. The company is currently undergoing significant investment in modern technologies and infrastructure to remain at the forefront of shipbuilding and engineering services for generations to come. If you are ready to join a forward-looking, heritage-rich organisation and play a vital role in building world-class vessels and maritime solutions, then apply before the closing date of Sunday, 29th June 2025.
