Monzo Bank is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for its Machine Learning Platform team, based in London or remotely within the UK. The role involves leading a team of 5-7 engineers to design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and tools that empower Monzo’s teams to train, evaluate, deploy, and serve machine learning models and features at scale. You will take accountability for delivery across squads, collaborating with Technical Leads, ML and Data teams, and the wider engineering organisation to ensure the platform drives meaningful outcomes. The Engineering Manager is responsible for fostering engineering excellence, developing and coaching team members through regular 1:1s and feedback, driving technical initiatives, and ensuring adoption of the ML platform across teams. While hands-on coding is not required, the role expects a strong technical and delivery background, experience working closely with ML platforms, and the ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous problem spaces. You will collaborate across product, data, and engineering disciplines to prioritise impactful projects, raise the bar for engineering practices, and support recruitment and team growth. Monzo offers a flexible working environment, a salary range of £110,500-£145,000 plus stock options and benefits, visa sponsorship, and a learning budget of £1,000 per year. The role includes an interview process with an initial call, followed by a loop of management, system design, and behavioural interviews, with a final chat with an engineering leader.
