This role is a senior academic leadership position responsible for guiding the School of Computer Science & Digital Technologies at Aston University, providing strategic direction across teaching, research, industry engagement, and digital innovation. The Executive Dean will lead two major departments—Applied AI & Robotics and Software Engineering & Cyber Security—while driving growth in student numbers, research income, global reputation, and industry collaboration in alignment with the Aston 2030 Strategy. The role involves shaping cutting-edge digital, AI, robotics, and cyber-security education; expanding research impact through interdisciplinary work and commercialisation; delivering high-quality academic programmes; and managing budgets, people, and long-term strategic initiatives. The Dean will champion inclusive, tech-driven education, foster external partnerships with industry, government, and technology sectors, lead innovation in transnational and online learning, and contribute to the university’s executive leadership team. This permanent full-time position includes a professorial role with a fixed 5-year term as Dean and offers Skilled Worker visa sponsorship for eligible candidates.
