The Flight Software Validation & Verification Engineer role at Astroscale involves working on the verification and validation of real-time embedded flight software for future orbital debris removal missions, including the ELSA-M service designed to capture and retire multiple satellites. The selected candidate will support the review of technical specifications, design and implement automated test cases, and develop test environments such as simulators for flight software. Collaboration with other subsystem teams and global Astroscale teams will be essential to identify software needs and contribute to the company’s mission of sustainable space operations. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Python programming, automated testing, real-time embedded systems (C/C++), and industry standards such as ECSS and communication protocols like PUS, CCSDS, CAN, and SpaceWire. Additional desirable skills include experience with RTOS platforms (e.g., VxWorks, RTEMS), CI/CD pipelines, Linux development, UML, and QT-based applications. The role is based in Didcot, Oxfordshire, with hybrid working options and occasional travel to Tokyo.
