Orbex is seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to join its Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) team, focusing on the design, development, integration, and validation of electrical wiring and interconnect systems for launch vehicles. This role is highly technical and involves ensuring that harnessing and avionics systems meet stringent aerospace standards for safety and reliability. Responsibilities include designing detailed wiring layouts using 2D schematics and 3D routing, ensuring compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and ECSS-Q-ST standards, selecting appropriate connectors, cables, shielding, and grounding methods, developing harness topologies and electrical distribution strategies, and generating BOMs, wiring diagrams, pin-outs, and assembly drawings. The engineer will collaborate across departments to achieve optimal device integration, perform harness validation checks, and participate in design reviews and FMEA hazard analysis. Candidates should have a background in Electrical, Avionics, or Aerospace Engineering, with proven experience in harness routing and integration within an aerospace environment, along with proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical and understanding of EMC/EMI and DFMA principles. Desirable qualifications include IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification and hands-on experience in electrical or avionics systems testing.
