Orbex is hiring an experienced Harness Design Engineer (AIT) to join its Assembly, Integration, and Testing team in Forres, Scotland. The role involves designing, developing, integrating, and validating electrical wiring and interconnect systems for launch vehicles. Responsibilities include creating detailed 2D schematics and 3D routing, selecting connectors, cables, grounding and shielding solutions, ensuring compliance with IPC/WHMA-A-620, ECSS and other aerospace standards, generating BOMs, wiring diagrams and assembly drawings, and supporting system architecture and electrical distribution strategies. The engineer will coordinate with multiple departments, perform validation and integrity checks, participate in design reviews and FMEA hazard analysis, and support rigorous testing cycles while following Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles.
