Nu Quantum, a spin-out from the University of Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory, is shaping the future of quantum information systems by integrating novel quantum photonic technology to build scalable quantum networking infrastructure. The company is seeking a Head of Quantum Hardware to direct and oversee the development of quantum hardware, working closely with the Head of Engineering, VP Technology, and other leaders to deliver full-stack quantum networking systems. Responsibilities include managing discipline leads in quantum hardware teams, supporting their growth and aligning skills with company needs, overseeing planning, budgeting, resource allocation, technical decision-making, and ensuring high-quality technical documentation and reporting. The role involves collaborating with project management and finance teams, championing scientific integrity, fostering a diverse and innovative environment, and representing the company at industry and research events. Candidates should hold a postgraduate qualification in experimental physics related to quantum computing or simulation, with proven leadership experience, expertise in qubit control, quantum optics, and optics, and strong skills in mentoring, problem-solving, communication, and data management. Desirable experience includes industry exposure, quantum error correction, electronics and control systems, and budget planning.
