About the job

The role of Hydraulic Engineer at Nicholas Associates offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to join a market-leading organisation in West Yorkshire, with a competitive salary range of £40,000–£70,000 per annum. This is a full-time, on-site position, where the successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of hydraulic components and high-pressure systems, with experience of operating at pressures of 450 bar or higher considered highly desirable. Applicants must have proven expertise in fluid power systems, high-pressure hydraulics, pump design, and development, supported by proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, or Autodesk Inventor, while knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis will be beneficial. Key responsibilities include creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, developing systems that optimise energy consumption and performance, utilising simulation tools, supporting prototype validation testing, and working closely with production and manufacturing partners to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with specifications. The position also involves applying innovative solutions to improve fluid power applications across multiple markets, analysing system failures to identify root causes, and developing test procedures to validate performance. Applicants must hold a relevant degree and demonstrate significant professional experience, as purely academic backgrounds will not be considered. Visa sponsorship may be available for candidates with over five years of proven industry experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong technical skills, creativity, and drive to contribute to innovative hydraulic engineering projects, while benefiting from the support and expertise of Nicholas Associates, a leading specialist in engineering and technical recruitment.
