As a Lead Machine Learning Scientist in Personalisation, you will play a crucial role in shaping how Monzo provides tailored recommendations, proactive insights, and seamless banking experiences that help customers make better financial decisions. Working within the Personalisation Data team alongside Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists, you’ll design, build, and deploy advanced ML models that enhance customer interactions, from intelligent recommendations and personalised ranking algorithms to predictive insights and contextual bandits for real-time decision-making. This technical IC leadership role involves working with billions of rows of data on a cloud-native platform, collaborating with cross-functional squads to deliver measurable impact, and providing technical leadership to raise the bar for ML practices across the organisation. You’ll be hands-on in developing state-of-the-art architectures, including neural networks, graph-based and sequence-based models, as well as experimenting with LLMs to drive improvements in personalisation. The role requires strong expertise in Python and SQL, a proven track record of deploying production-grade ML systems, and the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while keeping customer outcomes at the centre.
