Concrete4Change (C4C), a deep-tech R&D company pioneering breakthrough technology to permanently mineralise CO₂ in concrete, is seeking a highly qualified Lead Process (Commissioning) Operator to join its Nottingham-based team on a full-time permanent basis with a competitive salary of £45,000–£65,000 per year and visa sponsorship available. Recognised globally with awards from the United Nations, Royal Academy of Engineering, and COP26 Climate Challenge Cup, and backed by industry leaders Siam Cement Group and Goldbeck GmbH, C4C collaborates with top universities and manufacturers including Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield, Warwick, Holcim, CRH, Marshalls, and Ibstock. Having recently scaled up additive production by 10× and built a pilot-scale mini plant in Nottingham ahead of a 100× commercial demonstrator, the company now requires a process operator to commission and operate the pilot plant, shape operational protocols, build and lead a small team, and support the transition from pilot to commercial scale. Reporting directly to the CTO, responsibilities include recruiting and managing operators, overseeing site operations and trial deployments, scheduling shifts, coordinating contractors, conducting staff reviews, operating the plant safely and efficiently, collecting and recording process data, performing titrations and inspections, ensuring safe storage of materials, calibrating instruments, coordinating maintenance, conducting commissioning activities, managing safety and housekeeping, leading permit-to-work and isolation procedures, and representing C4C at customer sites. Candidates must have at least 5 years’ experience operating pilot or commercial plants, proven leadership and team management skills, technical competence in electrical, mechanical, operations or instrumentation, familiarity with COMAH Tier 2 safety practices, a hands-on practical approach, flexibility to work occasional non-standard hours, and a valid UK driving licence. Desirable attributes include experience in chemical, gas, oil, or bulk material industries, proficiency with hand tools, forklift operation or willingness to train, and additional expertise in electrics, PLCs, plumbing, laboratory work, NEBOSH, COSHH, LOLER, or cement chemistry. C4C offers a performance-linked salary, stock options, private health insurance, pension, generous annual leave, free food and coffee at the Nottingham office, direct collaboration opportunities with global concrete manufacturers, and unmatched career progression in climate tech scale-ups.
