Orbex is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Assembly Integration and Test (AIT) team to support the design, analysis, and manufacturing of high-precision and high-performance launch platform structures and ground system equipment. In this role, you will work with experts to develop aerospace components that will ultimately be launched into orbit. Responsibilities include designing and developing structural and mechanical components and assemblies for launch vehicles and ground segment equipment, evaluating designs for functionality, safety, and manufacturability, and conducting computational analyses of stress, static and dynamic loading, and vibrations. You will also support the development of launch platform structures and GSE, provide hands-on support for hardware prototype development and testing, manage multiple work packages, and ensure compliance with technical documentation and safety standards. Applicants should have an educational background in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, experience across the full design lifecycle including GD&T, design for manufacture, and verification, and proficiency in CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, or NX. Additional skills in numerical analysis tools like MATLAB/Simulink and familiarity with aerospace materials are desirable. Candidates with experience in liquid or hybrid propulsion systems, fluid testing, and industry standards (MIL-HDBK, ECSS, NASA-STD) are preferred.
