Orbex is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (AIT) to join its Assembly, Integration, and Test team in Forres, Scotland, to support the design, analysis, and manufacturing of launch platform structures and ground system equipment. The role involves designing and developing mechanical and structural components and assemblies for launch vehicles and supporting GSE, including fixtures for assembly and testing, while ensuring functionality, safety, and ease of manufacture and integration. Responsibilities include performing computational analysis for stress, static and dynamic loads, thermal and vibration effects, supporting launch platform and ground equipment development, providing hands-on support for prototype hardware development and testing, managing multiple work packages, and producing detailed technical documentation in line with industry standards and safety regulations. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including design, analysis, composites, and manufacturing, offering exposure to the full development lifecycle from concept and detailed design through production and verification.
