Nu Quantum Ltd, a leading quantum computing and advanced technology company based in Cambridge, UK, is seeking a hands-on experimental Physicist to join their Quantum Networking Unit (QNU) tech stream. The role involves ownership of quantum measurement and system automation, with a focus on Hong–Ou–Mandel interferometry and advanced benchmarking measurements, working at the intersection of science and engineering to transform foundational quantum principles into deployable technology. Responsibilities include performing optical measurements, quantum benchmarking of the QNU, scripting with Python, system automation using ARTIQ, gathering experimental results, analyzing data, documenting findings, and collaborating with electronics, FPGA control, mechanical, and software teams to design, build, and optimize high-performance experimental systems. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field (or MSc with equivalent experience), hands-on experience with quantum-optical and time-resolved measurements at the single-photon level, understanding of Hong–Ou–Mandel interference, fibre-optic system design and troubleshooting, interfacing lab equipment, stabilisation and feedback loops, and proficiency in data analysis using Python or Matlab, alongside strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
