About the job

The Principal Graphics Engineer at Scopely will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing advanced rendering systems for real-time games across multiple platforms, with a strong focus on mobile performance and visual fidelity. Responsibilities include architecting and implementing cutting-edge rendering features for Vulkan and Metal, developing GPU-driven geometry systems including visibility, culling, and LOD solutions, and integrating modern lighting and shading pipelines such as clustered or tiled lighting and hybrid deferred/forward+ techniques. The role also involves designing and optimizing real-time global illumination solutions, writing and optimizing high-performance shaders (HLSL/GLSL/MSL), profiling and resolving GPU/CPU bottlenecks using advanced tools, and creating efficient GPU memory layouts and render pass architectures tailored for tile-based GPU architectures. The engineer will pioneer compute-based rendering techniques, collaborate with engine and content teams to ensure production-ready features, and serve as a technical reference point for rendering best practices. Candidates should bring 8–10+ years of graphics programming experience, expert-level C++ skills, deep expertise in Vulkan or Metal, advanced knowledge of Unity’s Scriptable Render Pipeline, strong understanding of mobile GPU architecture, and proven success in diagnosing and optimizing GPU performance. Additional desirable experience includes UE5’s Nanite/Lumen, contributions to custom engine rendering systems, published research or open-source contributions, and multi-platform rendering expertise.
