About the job

The Quantum Innovation Sector Lead at STFC’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) will work as part of the Innovation Team alongside applications engineers, business development specialists and other sector experts to deliver quantum-readiness activities aligned to themes of awareness, engagement, evaluation, action and advocacy. You will maintain a comprehensive understanding of the state-of-the-art in quantum computing and its potential applications, work with prospective end users in industry, academia and the public sector to understand requirements and explore solutions, build domain knowledge and sector networks, initiate and manage technical projects, track and collate developments in quantum computing, present work externally and drive technology road-mapping for critical sectors such as finance, energy, aerospace, materials science and transport. The role requires a degree (or equivalent experience) in physics, computer science or mathematics, prior experience in quantum or related technologies, stakeholder management and the ability to run technical projects and influence across organisations.
