About the job

The Research Fellow in Scientific Computing role focuses on developing advanced mixed-precision numerical algorithms and high-performance computing methods for the EPSRC-funded MPiK project, aimed at solving large-scale numerical linear algebra problems on next-generation supercomputers. The position involves designing and analysing new algorithms, implementing them on accelerator-based architectures, and collaborating with international partners such as the University of Tennessee, Valencia Polytechnic University, and Environment and Climate Change Canada to integrate the work into leading HPC libraries like MAGMA, SLATE, and SLEPc, as well as future weather and climate models. The role offers travel opportunities to partner institutions in Canada, the US, and Spain, with strong support for publication, conference presentations, and professional development. Based on the Leeds Main Campus within the School of Computer Science, this Grade 7, full-time post includes excellent benefits such as 42 days of annual leave, a generous pension scheme, access to state-of-the-art fitness facilities, training programmes, childcare options, and shopping/travel discounts. The position is fixed-term until 31 August 2028 and is suitable for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship or potentially the Global Talent visa.
