As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Octagon Group in Cambridge, you will be part of an established team working on complex, mission-critical telecoms products. You will design, develop, and debug embedded software in C++ for real-time applications within Linux environments. Key responsibilities include building and customising embedded Linux distributions using the Yocto build system, interfacing with hardware through protocols like I2C, SPI, and UART, and working with RTOS for real-time functionality. You’ll be involved in full lifecycle development for telecoms systems that are used globally. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in embedded Linux development, be fluent in modern C++ (11/14/17), and have hands-on knowledge of Yocto, RTOS, and low-level hardware integration. This hybrid role requires 3 days onsite in Cambridge and offers a competitive salary between £70,000 and £100,000 per annum, along with benefits such as flexible working, 25 days annual leave, pension scheme, and visa sponsorship for qualified candidates.
