Cambridge University Press & Assessment is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Research Engineer to join their Applied AI team in Cambridge, UK (hybrid, 2 days per week in-office). This permanent full-time role, with a salary between £62,860 and £84,070, offers the opportunity to lead the development, deployment, and maintenance of scalable AI-powered solutions that support Cambridge English’s products and services. The role involves acting as a technical lead for AI solution design, including data pipeline creation, monitoring systems, and maintenance strategies. You’ll research, implement, and optimise machine learning models and collaborate with cross-functional teams to convert capabilities into real-world product features. Applicants must have a Master’s degree in AI, Machine Learning, or Computer Science, at least five years of relevant industry experience, and a strong background in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS. Desirable qualifications include a PhD, NLP or speech tech expertise, LLM experience, and a history of publishing or patent contributions.
