Nu Quantum is creating the Entanglement Fabric for quantum computing scale-out, unlocking data centre-scale quantum computing by weaving together processors to accelerate fault tolerance and transformational utility. Founded in 2018 as a spin-out of the University of Cambridge’s Cavendish Laboratory, Nu Quantum is now looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of novel quantum networking hardware. The role involves designing and manufacturing prototypes, developing assembly and alignment fixtures, integrating optical devices into opto-mechanical assemblies, leading technical workstreams, mentoring team members, and creating precision components with micron-level tolerances for use in ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic environments. Applicants should hold a STEM degree, have strong proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and mechanical documentation, and be experienced with rapid prototyping, Design for Manufacture, and Design for Assembly. Desirable skills include experience with SolidWorks CAD, cryogenics, MEMS, Finite Element Analysis, and metrology.
