Kernel is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, scale, and optimize its high-performance infrastructure built on Postgres, AWS, and Kubernetes. This role focuses on solving challenges related to high-volume data processing, real-time vs analytical workloads, replication, and Infrastructure-as-Code automation using Terraform or Pulumi. The engineer will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ensure infrastructure scalability, cost-efficiency, and reliability across massive data workloads. Ideal candidates should have over six years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, deep expertise in Postgres, AWS, and Kubernetes, and strong automation and problem-solving skills. Experience with data pipelines, analytical databases, observability tools, and LLM infrastructure is desirable. The position offers a salary of £120–200k per year with equity, hybrid work flexibility, visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates, and the opportunity to work directly with the founding team in a fast-paced AI-driven environment.
