Kernel, a fast-growing, product-focused startup based in London, is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join its hybrid team and take ownership of its AWS and Kubernetes backend infrastructure. The company, which enables revenue teams to research companies with precision and scale, works with top clients such as Remote.com, Zip, and GoCardless, and has raised over $5 million from leading VCs and executives from OpenAI, Slack, and Snowflake. In this role, you’ll operate as a backend-focused product engineer responsible for building and scaling the company’s systems that handle millions of accounts, terabytes of data, and tens of thousands of parallel executions. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of software engineering experience, strong backend skills, and familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, and large-scale data systems. Experience in early-stage startups, working autonomously, and exposure to LLMs or front-end tools are advantageous. Kernel offers a competitive salary between £120k–£200k plus equity, 24 days of annual leave, flexible “work from anywhere” options, pension, and visa sponsorship for exceptional candidates. The company’s tech stack includes NodeJS, TypeScript, Postgres, NextJS, Tailwind, and n8n. The role involves working closely with the founding team, shipping features rapidly, improving infrastructure scalability, automating processes, and contributing ideas to the product roadmap. Applicants will go through a multi-step hiring process including an intro chat, technical screen, take-home assignment, onsite deep dive, and a values interview with the founders.
