As a Senior Technical Lead, Machine Learning Science, you will join the Operations Data team, which consists of Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, Machine Learning Scientists, and Data Scientists, to drive impactful ML-based solutions that transform how Monzo supports over 9 million customers. In this senior IC role, you will provide technical leadership, mentor less experienced ML practitioners, and deliver advanced machine learning models that improve customer operations, from workforce planning to customer support optimization. You will work end-to-end, collaborating across cross-functional squads to design, develop, and deploy models into production, with a focus on delivering measurable business impact. The role requires strong experience in SQL, Python, and developing deep learning, graph-based, or sequence-based architectures, with an openness to learning Go. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of leading ML development in fast-moving environments, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders. Nice-to-have skills include experience with NLP, customer support systems, and production-level microservices. The role offers £135,000–165,000 salary plus benefits, flexible working, visa sponsorship, relocation support, learning budgets, and the opportunity to work remotely or in Monzo’s London/Cardiff offices.
