Mistral AI is seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join its Knowledge and Search engineering team in London, United Kingdom. The company believes in the power of AI to simplify tasks, save time, and enhance creativity through high-performance, open-source, and cutting-edge models and products. As part of this team, you will design, implement, and scale Mistral’s search capabilities that connect customers to the right information efficiently. The role involves building, maintaining, and enhancing fast, reliable, and scalable indexing and searching systems across web and knowledge data, optimizing full search pipelines from document ingestion to retrieval, and owning information retrieval systems for both internal and enterprise customers. You will collaborate with data and infrastructure teams to ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of search services while working closely with stakeholders to push the limits of cloud-native and on-premise systems. The ideal candidate will have over seven years of relevant experience and a master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with strong backend development skills in Python, Go, C++, or Rust. Experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker, CI/CD, Helm, Kubernetes, and Terraform, as well as a solid understanding of cloud-native ecosystems, is essential. Candidates who also have AI or machine learning engineering experience will be at an advantage. The hiring process includes an introduction call, technical interviews (live coding and system design), and a culture-fit discussion. This position is based primarily in London or Paris, with visa sponsorship provided for eligible candidates. Mistral AI offers a competitive salary and equity package, health insurance, private pension, meal vouchers, transport and sport allowances, generous parental leave, and opportunities to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment with offices across France, the UK, Germany, Singapore, and the USA.
