Mistral AI is seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join its Knowledge and Search engineering team. The role involves designing, implementing, and scaling search capabilities to support user needs and internal systems, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering. Responsibilities include building and enhancing scalable indexing and search capabilities, optimizing pipelines from document ingestion to retrieval using search-oriented databases, and maintaining reliable information retrieval systems for both internal and enterprise customers. The engineer will ensure search services meet increasing demands, collaborate with stakeholders to push the boundaries of reliability and performance across cloud-native and on-premise environments, and contribute to scaling distributed search systems. Candidates should have 7+ years of relevant professional experience, a Master’s in Computer Science or related field, strong backend development skills (Python, Go, C++, Rust), proficiency in infrastructure management (Docker, K8s, Terraform), and knowledge of cloud ecosystems. Experience in AI/ML engineering and CI/CD tooling is a plus. The role is primarily Paris-based with relocation encouraged, though remote arrangements are possible in select countries (France, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy) with regular visits to Paris.
