Monzo Bank is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Scientist to lead advanced ML initiatives across personalization, fraud detection, transaction monitoring, customer risk assessment, and operational tooling. As a senior Individual Contributor, you will have end-to-end ownership of ML problems, from formulating solutions to deploying models and monitoring their impact on key product and business metrics. You will collaborate with cross-functional squads including Data, Engineering, Product, and Risk, leveraging techniques such as Deep Learning, Graph Neural Networks, and Transformers to enhance personalization and operational efficiency. The role involves providing technical leadership, mentoring other ML practitioners, shaping ML strategy, guiding best practices, and optimizing real-time systems to improve customer experience. You will work closely with stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver solutions that measurably improve business outcomes. Candidates should have experience writing production Python code, strong SQL skills, familiarity with MLOps, and the ability to work in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
