The Superconducting Qubit Physicist at STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Harwell Campus, Didcot, UK, will design, build, and optimize superconducting quantum computing systems, perform experimental characterization and benchmarking, develop scalable control and calibration strategies, and contribute to quantum error correction. The role involves collaborating with academic and industry partners on enabling technologies, integrating full-stack quantum computing systems, keeping up to date with advances in the field, and publishing non-confidential results. Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent research experience in superconducting quantum devices or a related field, conceptual understanding of qubits and quantum computing systems, familiarity with dilution fridge measurements and cryogenic microwave signal chains, scientific programming skills for instrumentation and data analysis, and practical measurement experience with quantum devices. Strong collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills are required. Visa sponsorship is available under the Skilled Worker route, with possible reimbursement of Home Office fees after joining.
