About the job

The Tech Lead at Cambridge University Press & Assessment will provide strategic technical leadership across the organisation’s modernisation programme, designing and delivering high-quality, scalable, and resilient applications while ensuring long-term maintainability and adaptability. You will collaborate with architects, Product Owners, and Delivery Managers to align technical decisions with business goals, shape cloud-native architecture, modernise legacy systems, optimise CI/CD pipelines, and embed security and performance best practices across the technology stack. This role involves mentoring and guiding engineering teams, enforcing technical standards, driving innovation, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Candidates should have strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, integration patterns, automation, and deployment strategies, as well as experience managing multi-team environments, both onshore and offshore. You will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical bottlenecks, supporting high-performing teams, ensuring compliance with security frameworks, and making scalable architecture decisions that enable organisational growth. This hybrid role requires 40-60% in-office collaboration at Cambridge, UK, and the organisation supports flexible working arrangements and visa sponsorship for eligible candidates. Cambridge University Press & Assessment offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package including 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private medical insurance, discretionary bonus, pension scheme, life assurance, and green travel schemes, while fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment where employees can pursue their potential and contribute to global educational impact.
