The Technical Lead at Cambridge University Press & Assessment plays a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable, and resilient cloud-native applications that support global education needs. This hands-on role involves leading the migration of legacy 3-tier enterprise applications to modern AWS-based cloud architectures using microservices, serverless technologies, and containerization (ECS/EKS, Lambda, Docker). The Technical Lead will implement robust observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, and design systems that are prepared for future event-driven architecture (EDA) using tools like EventBridge, SNS, and SQS. The role requires expertise in building responsive Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) with frameworks such as React or Angular, integrated with cloud-native backends. Security and compliance (OWASP, GDPR), CI/CD automation (AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and mentoring engineers are all key responsibilities. You’ll collaborate with architects, product teams, and stakeholders to ensure that scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions are aligned with business goals.
