The Threat Intelligence Engineer at Jisc will be responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure and systems that support Jisc’s security services, ensuring the security of Jisc’s Janet network, a high-speed network dedicated to the UK research and education community. The role will focus on managing and enhancing SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response), and threat intelligence platforms. The engineer will also collaborate with threat intelligence teams to develop effective methods for integrating and automating these platforms, as well as monitoring the security status of services and infrastructure to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. Other responsibilities will include developing and maintaining documentation in accordance with Jisc’s standards, continuously improving technologies to meet business needs, representing Jisc externally at conferences, and supporting the development of security technologies that advance Jisc’s objectives. The role requires operational experience in technical areas such as IaaS, SaaS, Linux server administration, and knowledge of ISO/IEC 27001 standards. Strong communication skills are essential for discussing complex technical topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.
